To All The Mothers

Mother's Day, simply put, is a time to cherish. Some of us are celebrating being a mom for the first time, some wishing for next year to finally be theirs. There are people in this world who get to hug their moms tight, and some who spend the day remembering the good times. There are mothers of friend groups who keep your feet on the ground when the endless mimosas at brunch flow a little too heavy, and others who found motherly figures in teachers or neighbors or someone life gently placed in their world.

Mother's Day looks different to everyone, but for me it is a day to look back on the lessons I've been taught by the strong women of my life.

Like saying yes to every single thing my grandma offers to cook me, because one day she won't be around to offer a third chicken salad sandwich. And no diet or pounds lost are more important than getting to see her face light up as she saws off the crust.

Or staying up until your kids get home from their high school parties because knowing your family is complete at the end of every night means something. The nights I stayed up watching reruns of Who's The Boss with my mom waiting for my sister to come home are some of the most loved ones.

It's sewing a button perfectly for the first time, and seeing first hand that days can be long but years are short. Watching your sister grow into the strongest woman you know. Stopping to smile the first time you double bag your ice for the cooler so it doesn't leak out.

I hope this day can meet you where you are, and allow you to take a few steps back to the times that made your heart what it is today by the women who have surrounded you.

And if you are still looking for a gift for the mother in your life, here is one MADE WITH LOVE.
