I recently discussed my nieces birthday trip and how beautiful it was to see little girls being girls. It was something I normally wouldn't share as I like to keep my page as business oriented as possible. But it seemed to resonate, and it had me realizing the side of vulnerability missing from my story.
The truth is, while I love making parties pretty with every fiber of my bones, the reason I love decor goes much deeper than that. As women we start life with a whimsical mindset. We get excited over pink bows and butterflies. Life feels hopeful and new, you can be anything you dream of!
As life goes no, we get chipped away at. We hear that others are prettier, we see that others are skinnier, our worth becomes caught up in how we can fit ourselves into a box we didn't get to build.
I personally went through a painful relationship in my 20's. One that robbed me of the ability to decipher good from bad. It took me a long time to realize how scared I had become of seeing magic in this world. It felt best to hold the negative close as to not be shocked by something worse sneaking its way in.
I started as a little girl who used to beg to craft, always thought of little gifts for others, and dreamt of the day she could gather people around a big table full of flowers and pretty plates. Someone who loved beauty with her whole heart, and slowly turned into someone who struggled to see it at all.
So as I build Lived X Leigh, and create stunning moments full of memories for others, I'm met with the joy of healing. Each detail created, every person I see smiling at a reveal, the stories being told long after pieces are picked up. All of these things are reminders of how we can keep the magic of girlhood alive even if your world tries to dim the light.
