The holidays are officially here and one thing I feel we can all agree on is that there will be last minute things coming our way. From the white elephant gift you didn't know you needed, to the added place setting at the dinner table, here are a few things to think over this weekend so your holiday week is as smooth as freshly fallen snow.
1. Stopping by Target or the department store this weekend? Pick up an extra pair of kitchen hand towels or a small throw blanket. These are easy gifts to use year round and great to have when you get the last minute "we are doing white elephant tomorrow" text.
2. Stock up on tear and bake cookies and the $2 plastic trays from the grocery store. When heading out to parties you can pop them in the over and wrap them up on the tray for a simple and shareable hostess gift. They also come in handy on Christmas Eve when you have forgotten to prepare cookies for Santa.
3. Looking for a last minute outing for the kids or family that came into town? There is nothing better than piling in the car with hot coco on hand and carols beaming through the speakers to gaze at lights. Great memories don't have to be expensive ones. A little something I like to remind myself of this time of year.
4. Ever been in a position where your cousin is now brining the guy she met at the bar last night to family dinner? And you are peering at a stack of perfectly curated plates and napkins with JUST enough for the final tally of guests? Don't be afraid to mix and match your holiday settings with every day dining wear you have. Alternating plates, even napkins and silverware still makes for a stunning setting around a full table.
5. And last but hopefully not least, one that has nothing to do with being prepared... set your alarm for 30 minutes earlier than you need on Christmas morning and sit under your tree lights with a cup of coffee. Take a moment. Breath. Enjoy the beauty that is the holidays. They might feel chaotic at times, but the way the twinkle shines through your darkened home in the silence of the early hours is what perfection is made of.
May all your holidays be merry and bright! Wishing each and every one of you the most lovely end to 2024 and stunning new beginnings to come.
With love,
Shelby Leigh Priester
