Finding Fall

This morning after last night's spooky book club celebration, I had an inkling to scroll a few last minute Halloween items. Heading over to the mecca of aesthetically pleasing decor, Anthropology, I was met with a shocking (yet beautiful) display of Christmas items. With stun in my eyes and mouth agape I just have to ask, where did Fall go?
Don't get me wrong, I know this is par for the course. Every year we push holidays up, forget Thanksgiving all together, and race ourselves into the new year. But as someone who sits patiently each year waiting for the summer to end, I'd like to take a moment to slow it down.
More time of walking into the grocery store met by bundles of pumpkins. More mornings of debating a second coffee just to hold a warm drink in my hands. Late night chats on the back porch, finally cool enough to stay but not so cold your bones shake. I want more leaves turning from green to red. And what feels like stolen time sitting around the table with family and friends. Lacking in work always feels more accepted during Fall. I'll even take the wild 12 foot skeletons in front yards that send shivers down my spine, if we can just slow down time.
Just a moment more to find Fall, before we move on and on.
