The thing about flowers is that they all have a place in this world. Each type has a moment in time, a memory to be made. I love to challenge clients to look at florals from a broad view.
You may not love carnations, one of the most omitted flowers, but bundled in the bottom of a bouquet they can add so much colorful filling. And while babies breath is not everyones cup of tea, it works so well scattered around a baby shower.
Each flower has its place in this world.
I love helping open peoples eyes to a combination they might not have seen, and introducing them to a flower they often times would glaze over. Think of a tulip - it might be perfect for a summer tea party, but feel out of place in a Christmas centerpiece. I love sunflowers mixed with greenery for a luncheon, but wouldn't consider them in a gala setting unless the theme leaned towards a picnic feel.
Next time you go to choose flowers, I would encourage you to consider your theme and really think of how you can stretch beyond what you like and don't to what fits into the palette you are creating.
